How to get the sticky paper off laser-cut acrylic without losing your shit

When you get stuff laser-cut, it comes back covered in sticky paper that is a NIGHTMARE to get off, if you’ve got lots of little bits. Like this:

Now that would take an eternity to peel off. A frustrating eternity, which is eternity + 1

So what you do is you put them in a little zip-lock bag

ziploc

And give spray 2 or 3 blasts of CRC – just enough to get all the bits wet

into it. Like this:

And leave it for a couple of hours.

Then you empty the whole lot into a sock (I’m not posting a picture of a sock, get a grip, you’re annoying me now.)… couple of squirts of dish-washing liquid to get rid of the CRC… tie a rubber band round it, and put it in the wash.

And all the bits of paper come off.

Brilliant

  1. Totally brilliant until the woman of the house smells and sees the residue from the petroleum spray on her good clothes after the next wash. :)

  2. Nick Taylor says:

Yea – need to wash it off before you get to that bit. It might be best to wash them before they go in the sock etc.

  3. oh well then, that’s totally a perfect plan then. xoxo
