WIFI Boosters : Web Design as it should be

This is my new favourite website

It’s about home-made WIFI boosters made out of kitchen appliances etc, and has an absolutely brilliant interface, which allows visitors to take advantage of their on in-built super-efficient filtering mechanisms (the visual bit of their brain)… ie: get about 100 thumbnails and throw them all at the screen at the same time.

You can zoom to what interests you in a matter of seconds. The pictures come first, the text (which is embedded in the actual image, which HTML real-ale types hate) comes second, but contains all the information required. It’s like the reverse of how things are “supposed to be done” – ie: have machine readability as the baseline and build human readability on top of that, but when it comes to propagating memes, it’s a giant-killer.

A minor/major flaw is that you can’t copy and paste the text… but other than that, it works.

The fact that the guy manages to craftily get himself into a lot of the photos:

and include various information that may not in certain circles be considered entirely relevant to the topic at hand, makes it all the more endearing. Never misunderstimate the healing power of the human touch.

Brilliant.
