3D Printing of Metallic… things

Sounds like a similar process to 3D printing except it uses an electron beam to melt one or two metals.

I’d be interested to see what kind of surface-quality it can produce. The article above talks about building aeroplane parts out of it. Which are um… quite big I would have thought. The also talked about being able to embed fibreoptics in aluminum. Something NASA are doing apparently. Rocket Science etc.

Is there anything Rocket Science can’t do?
