Electric Planelets

This is pretty cool – a glider that’s been turned into an electric plane.

(from : via)

The key bit is 5-6kw battery packs which cost $8500 – about 35kg, which is pretty heavy. Batteries are becoming… the mega-vitamin technology, for a whole range of things. They take 6 hours (or 2) to charge up… and it costs $.75 for a full charge, which lasts about an hour. It goes about 100km/h.

Cool, though I still think I’d prefer one where I could fly it remotely… still, if there was some VTOL version of this, that’s a seriously cheap way of getting about.

An ode to Cognitive Surplus.

A celebration of the inventive backwaters of the human spirit... a celebration of people who would appear to have far too much time on their hands...

A celebration of laterality.

If you come they will build it.

By knowledge shall the spheres be filled.
